A Shikara is a traditional wooden boat found on Dal Lake in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It's one of the most iconic and picturesque aspects of Kashmir’s landscape and culture.
Shikara rides are perfect for photography, especially during sunrise or sunset when the water reflects the sky and mountain
Shikara isoften used for:
Transporting people across the lake
Tourist rides, offering views of the Himalayas, houseboats, and floating gardens
Selling goods – some vendors run their own floating shops from Shikaras
Fishing and harvesting lotus stems (nadru)
